Breitling Navitimer Ref A23322, Pre-Owned
Introduction (1952): The Breitling Navitimer was introduced in 1952. It was designed to meet the specific needs of pilots and aviation professionals. The most distinctive feature of the Navitimer is its circular slide rule bezel, which allows pilots to perform various calculations related to navigation, including fuel consumption, airspeed, and distance.
Collaboration with AOPA (1952): The Navitimer gained significant popularity and recognition through its collaboration with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Breitling became the official supplier of watches for AOPA, and the association's logo was often featured on the dials of Navitimer watches.
Chronomatic Caliber 11 (1969): In 1969, Breitling made history by introducing the Navitimer Chronomatic with the Caliber 11 movement. This movement was one of the world's first automatic chronograph movements, and it marked a significant advancement in watchmaking technology.
Evolution and Variations: Over the years, the Breitling Navitimer has undergone various design changes and updates while maintaining its core characteristics. Different models and variations have been introduced, featuring changes in materials, sizes, and movements

The Navitimer Chronometre replaces the Old Navitimer II and brings a subtle but major redesign for the flagship model: the new caliber Breitling 24 allows a dial layout that is similar to the original 1960s ref. 806. The hands too are subtly redesigned, with slightly wider lumed tapered baton hands. Dials now have applied baton indexes or lumed arabics. The threaded screw-down cases have the same tapered lugs silhouette of the vintage icons, but are slightly larger with a bezel diameter of 41.8mm. Crystals are convex sapphire glass, glare proof on both sides.
The Navitimer Chronometre has hour and minute counters and "running seconds" in the traditional 3/6/9 layout with a date display at 4:30. The chrono sweep hand has a red arrow tip and a "script B" counterweight.
Navitimer Chronometre comes in various dial colors and also has dial variations where lumed arabics replace the redesigned applied baton hour indexes. All have red accents on both dial and the "sloped" slide rule; logo is "Breitling Wings & Anchor."
The Breitling Navitimer has become an iconic and timeless piece in the world of aviation watches. Its distinctive appearance, technical features, and historical significance make it a sought-after timepiece among both aviation enthusiasts and watch collectors.
