Hublot’s Founding and Innovation

• Hublot was founded in 1980 by Italian watchmaker Carlo Crocco. His vision was to create a luxury watch with a bold, unique look that would appeal to a younger generation.

• Crocco introduced the innovative concept of a rubber strap on a luxury watch with a gold case. This was groundbreaking at the time because luxury watches traditionally featured leather or metal straps. Hublot's use of rubber not only set a new trend but also matched well with the active lifestyles of its target audience.

MDM Genève Collection

• MDM Genève was the name of Hublot's first collection, with "MDM" standing for "Marie-Danielle Montre" in tribute to Crocco’s wife.

• The model 1521, along with other MDM Genève models, was notable for its minimalist, porthole-shaped design with visible screws on the bezel — an aesthetic choice that would become iconic for Hublot.

• The 1521.2 variant featured a stainless steel case and often came with a quartz movement, appealing to those looking for a high-quality yet reliable and convenient timepiece.

Design and Features

• The design of the 1521.2 was strikingly simple yet modern, with a round case, minimalist dial, and the signature rubber strap. This design language helped differentiate it from more traditional Swiss watches.
